THREE SEASONS WITH THREE WINDOWS

Located east of Toronto in Pickering, Ontario, this project is composed of two phases; the first being a carefully considered rear extension for a three season room. The property directly backs onto Frenchman’s Bay which has ecological importance as a freshwater coastal wetland, the property is therefore part of the TRCA authority.

A minimal material palette consisting of thermally modified ash, galvanized aluminum and tinted concrete pavers are used for their low maintenance qualities, longevity and beauty. Combined with three large operable screens that dissapear into the ceiling, allowing uninterupted views towards the natural wetland beyond.

The project is specifically sized to work within the guidelines of the TRCA while integrating a simple, elegant and cost effective construction strategy to build within a tight site with challenging access.

Close collaboration is underway between client, architect and contractor. The project is set for construction in summer of 2026.
